All the teams but one dumped and several did it within a few feet of shore which had to have sucked.   They pulled their canoes up to the road and proceeded on foot to Kincardine which was 8km out.

Once there they met up with their support crews and swapped gear to start the mountain bike that would take them to Stoney Point.

There they had the orienteering course and ropes course.   The orienteering section they had to find flags marked on their map and retrieve the word.  For the ropes course they had to clip on to a rope (a la survivor) and follow it around , up , over and through logs.

Once that was completed it was back to the bikes to head to Greenock Swamp.  Let me tell you about this swamp.  When it was originally scouted last year it was dry and dense until you got near the lake where you could sink in and get a really smelly shoe.  That was last year.  This year it has rained and the swamp was super swampy.  One of the members on Three Wisemen was rumoured to have sunk in upto his neck at one point.

To get to the swamp teams had to ride their bike in to the middle via a nice and slick clay atv trail.  I bailed on it twice last year and it was only kind of wet.   Once at the cp, they’d drop their bikes and head into the various checkpoints with only one being mandatory.  Needless to say all the teams chose to do just that one.  As it was they were in there for a good 5 hours at least.    Once done they’d get back on their bikes and head to the Brant Tract trail where they did a series of optional cp’s on a mountain bike trail system.  From there they headed to Paisely to get in their canoes and paddle to Mikes Challenge at the finish line. Mikes challenge was an optional 70 squats for 10 points. (which all the teams opted to do amazingly).  Once finished they portaged their canoes the 500 or so meters to the finish line.

Rawwwwwwwwwk!!

This past weekend was the Angry Seagull 24 hour Adventure Race and all indications were that it was a success despite the bastardly race organizers.

I figured it was about time to put my thoughts on milk to internetial paper.  Internetial is totally a word cause the expression doesn’t work without it.  Go ahead and look it up, you’re only embarrassing yourself. Back to the milk conspiracy…uh well there is one and you are its chump.

I’ve got a new word for you.  Seiche.    I had never heard the word before in my life but it came up 3 times this past weekend from three separate groups.  Being the huge curious nerd I am I had to learn more.

Surely there must be something wrong with my golf clubs, my driver in particular.  It has the terrible tendency to pull the ball to the right in a terrible slice majority of the time.  Terrible.  Not just terrible, teerable (must be said in a russian accent)  I should return it.  Too bad it was a hand me down.   Of the bucket of balls I hit 90% had decent power and distance however only 4-5 went straight.  Not good.   I think I may need a plan B tomorrow on the course.  Someone to distract while I move my ball out of the rough or out of the trees.  A person in an angry seagull costume I think would do it just right.  I envision it like the below animated gif that cracks me up every time.Don\'t feed the pigeons

I love it when a plan comes together!

Stinger the touted turtle tossed a turkey to us.  Stinger started around 4th climbed up to 2nd and then crapped the bed.  Dropping to last place amongst the competing turtles.  I say competing because there were 3 turtles that went the opposite way and then hung out in some islands.  Needless to say Stinger owes me and her fans an apology and an explanation of what went so drastically wrong.

Our hero has moved his base of operations from the west coast to the east coast….of ontario.

Stinger is making his move. He passed Kristin’s turtle Billie II on day 3 and hasn’t looked back since. 2286 miles to the finish and Stingers not even breathing hard. Meanwhile Darryls turtle has turned north and is heading to Canada. Shelby is at least facing the right way now.

Stinger

Thats right The Great Turtle Race is back on boys and girls.  I for one am quite excited.
